Widgets and Gadgets and other Whatdgets of WEB 2.0
I just started taking a Web 2.0 Class. Partly because I have to keep up my credits for my certification, and partly because I am genuinely interested in all the new widgets. There is so much out there that it is mind boggling. But, thanks to my wonderful teacher, the class is a time for us to play in a "sandbox." We explore, play, create, experiment, and respond. Last week it was Blogs and RSS Feeds. I was inspired to try to keep up a Blog site. I started this one a few years ago, but it went by the wayside. I'm hoping to be faithful to blogging this time around. Thanks to the "No Shhing Here" Blog Site, I am again pumped up about creating my own blog space. I'm not sure what I will be blogging about, but I guess that will evolve as I do.
One thing I do know, though...I have the best job in the world. Being a high school librarian is exciting and fun. It is tiring, frustrating, and rewarding. I love my students. They probably hate me! I make them follow the rules of the school. I've been cursed at, had a water bottle thrown at me, been called all sorts of names I would never repeat to my grandmother. But, what the heck, these are the kids I've chosen to work with. It is worth all the effort when after graduation, those same students want to be friended by me on Facebook. Go figure!
Ok...back to Web 2.0. Well, it's all about the kids, isn't it? Meeting them where they are. Social. Interactive. Relevant. Open. Communication. I'll let you know what I learn and how it goes!
